Team Move Turns Six!

October 11, 2011 Leave a comment

Yes it’s true, Team Move turns the big six this month!  For six years Team Move has been one of the most trusted fitness brands on the island, and one of the longest running fitness companies on Oahu.  The brand that you now know today as Team Move, was founded by Damon Iaea and Kim Lehano back in October of 2005.  A little known fact in the history of the company is that the word “Move” was originally an acronym which stood for “Motivating Others Via Exercise.”

One of the first classes that was developed by Team Move was a capoeira class.   Soon other “Signature” classes like HardCORE, Swim X, and the now popular dodgeball, would soon follow.  Private swim lessons and personal training services were later developed in 2006, which established the company as a full service outdoor fitness company.  Before you knew it, the movement had already begun.  Team Move was soon featured in magazines, newspapers, and television.  Those who followed Team Move and participated in their programs were soon referred to simply as a “Mover.”  Now in 2011 after helping and motivating hundreds of people, the question is … what is next?

Team Move will be celebrating all month long with surprises that will knock your running shoes off!  The staff at Team Move would like to sincerely thank you for all your support over the years.  Stay tuned Movers, you haven’t seen nothing yet.

Dodgeball Returns!

August 22, 2011 2 comments

We have had calls, tweets, emails, death threats, and just about everything that you can think of; asking when dodge ball was coming back.  If you follow us on twitter and have been wondering what the cryptic “FUN” tweets was all about, we may finally have your answer.  We recently caught up with none other than Team Move Co-Founder Damon Iaea, to get to the bottom of this hype.  “The demand for dodge ball has probably been the most we’ve ever seen in the history of our classes, since Move Camp.  We love to give the people what they want, plain and simple.

Fitness has gone extreme in the past 10 years, so I feel that it’s time to remind everyone just how fun exercise can be”  said Damon.  Team Move first introduced dodge ball last summer, and the turn out was mind blowing.  Since last year, the requests have poured in month after month.  “It was great!  Dodge ball is loved by everyone around the world.  I don’t think there is one person out there that hasn’t played this game before.  The cool thing about last year was that we would go out to different locations, and just ask people on the playground if they wanted to join in.  We had players of all ages playing with us.  It was crazy!” Damon said.

Last year’s class was originally held in Waipio, but this year the venue has changed to Salt lake, and will be held every Wednesday evening.  Wednesday September 7th will be the official start date of dodge ball, and will be held for the months of September and October.  Damon told the TM Staff  “Sure, we could’ve done a TRX ™ class or even a Zumba ™ class; but everyone and their Grandma is already doing that.  Some people are focused on bringing “sexy” back … we’re bringing fun back.”  For more information and to RSVP  please contact us at info@teammovehi.com or 808.226.2625.

TM Fit Tip!

“Procrastination”

We haven’t found the one cure for weight loss yet, but what we can tell you are one of the causes of many health ailments.  Weight gain, obesity, bad food choices, and just about every topic associated with bad health is linked to one trait that we all possess … procrastination.  It really is simple when you think of it, but still many wonder what the cause of weight gain is.  When we keep saying “I’ll start exercising on Monday.” … that’s procrastination.  When we say things like “I’ll start watching what I eat after my friend’s party this weekend.” … that’s procrastination.  Or one of the most famous lines of “I’ll skip going to the gym today, and just go tomorrow.” … yup you guessed it!  You see a pattern here?

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that these excuses leads to a pattern, which develops a habit, and it takes time to develop a habit.  As time goes on developing this bad habit, it starts becoming procrastination.  So what do we do about it?  Well it’s simple … stop doing it right now!  Build a better habit of being consistent with everything that you do.  We appreciate you reading this article, but chances are that you are procrastinating right now, and avoiding something that you should be working on.  Get to work.
